Marion Tschernutters interest in biomedical and biopharma- ceutical research has already developed during her studies of Genetics at the University of Vienna. After her graduation, she was offered a PhD studentship and subsequently a postdoctoral research fellow position in Prof. Dr. Ali's group in the Division of Molecular Therapy, University College of London, where she worked mainly on the development and clinical application of new gene and cell therapy approaches for retinal dystrophies. Since in the post-genomic era protein research is increasingly gaining importance, she had joined the Medical University of Vienna and the Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Science in order to improve her understanding of protein and proteomic research, before she became a member of Prof. Dr. Kunert's team at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences. The main interest of our group is focused on the development of recombinant cell lines for large-scale production of therapeutic proteins.
