Simone Schumann is a contract researcher at the Department of Social Studies of Science. In 1999 she graduated from the advertising academy in Vienna. After working for several years in advertising and marketing, Simone studied Sociology and History at the University of Graz and received a Masters in Sociology. From 2008 until 2009, Simone has worked at the University of Graz for the socio-cultural project Facing Nations. In addition, she co-organized the first interdisciplinary Conference on Applied Interculturality Research at the Center for Systematic Musicology. Her current dissertation project seeks to investigate how different actors are coming to terms with emerging technologies, such as nanofood, against the background of deeply culturally and also politically grounded Austrian food identities and specific Austrian technopolitical cultures.
