Stefan Schauer studied computer science at the University of Klagenfurt and specialized in the field of security. His first contact with Quantum Cryptography, his current research field, was when he spent a year abroad at the ETH Zürich. He finished his studies in 2007 doing his diploma thesis at the AIT. Afterwards, he started a PhD at the Vienna University of Technology in cooperation with the AIT. Besides his work he is a trainer of a volleyball team near his hometown and he spends most of his spare time doing a lot of sports, especially volleyball, and hanging out with his friends.
