Born in 1971 in Styria/Austria, Herbert Preiss graduated in 2003 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration with a Master in Economic and Social Sciences. From mid-2004 to end-2005 he worked as a teaching and research assistant at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRE) and the Institute of British-Irish Studies (IBIS), University College Dublin. Since October 2006 he is lecturing at the Institute of Political Science, University of Vienna, and since October 2007 he is a research assistant and Ph.D. student at the IK Vienna School of Governance, University of Vienna. The working title of his dissertation is Conflict at the Interface: National Divisions, Class Inequalities and Hegemonic Struggles in Northern Ireland and the Kosovo. His longstanding professional experience in academic and contract research has led to several publications and presentations at international conferences.
